Join Yoga Cville and Anne Barkley for a special Saturday Workshop on inverted postures.
Inversions, including Headstand and Shoulderstand variations, are some of the most powerful poses in yoga practice. They bring new energy to the brain and the body by inverting the legs, renewing blood in the heart and lungs, and getting this newly oxygenated blood to the thyroid, pituitary, and brain. The endocrine system can thus better regulate our hormonal cycles as we develop more refined physical and mental balance.
It is never too late to receive these benefits, as Mr. Iyengar taught Sirsasana, headstand to Elisabeth, Queen of Belgium, at 80 years old. Join us as we safely practice inversions with a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher to refine alignment and balance and renew energy. In Iyengar Yoga, we use props to help make these poses accessible to everyone. Beginners gain confidence as they enjoy taking comfortable steps toward these poses. Intermediate and advanced students further refine the correct alignment of the bones, muscles, and organs, bringing a new lightness that supports the benefits and joys of lifelong daily practice.
