Strength Training with Resistance Bands
Saturday, March 11
10am - 11:15am
Sarcopenia is the age-related progressive loss of muscle mass and strength. The main symptom of the condition is muscle weakness which is a major factor in increased frailty, falls, and fractures.
We gradually begin losing muscle mass and strength in our 30s or 40s. This process picks up between the ages of 65 and 80. Rates vary, but research has shown that we may lose as much as 8% of our muscle mass each decade.
Certain lifestyle behaviors can treat and help reverse sarcopenia. In this class, we will demo the use of resistance bands for a full-body workout, examine how added resistance can often make many yoga poses feel more accessible, and leave with one short workout sequence that can be done anywhere....so long as you have a band with you!
Come prepared to have some fun while working out w/ Maggie Walsh.
