International Day of Yoga Celebration
Saturday, June 21
9:30am - 11:00am
The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21st. This day was declared by the United Nations in 2014 to raise global awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga. The date was chosen because it is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, which holds special significance in many cultures.
Yoga, a physical, mental, and spiritual practice, originated in ancient India and is practiced worldwide today. Shri BKS Iyengar, founder of Iyengar Yoga, was one of the first teachers to bring yoga to the USA in the late 1960s.
Join Yoga Cville and Mary Bridle to celebrate this day and enjoy a multilevel yoga class in the Iyengar Tradition. This will be a donation-based class.
