Take a Deep Breath: 3-Week Workshop on Pranayama

B.K.S. Iyengar defines Pranayama as a "conscious prolongation of inhalation, retention, and exhalation."  According to Iyengar, "the practice of Pranayama develops a steady mind, strong will-power and sound judgment."  And who doesn't want that?

This workshop series will instruct students in basic Pranayama techniques, laying the groundwork for home practice and further study.  Although students can choose to attend an individual session (or two), they are strongly encouraged to commit to the full workshop and to practice Pranayama during the three-week course, if only for a few minutes each day.

Mary Bridle, who teaches at Iyengar Yoga of Charlottesville, will lead the workshop.  Mary is a Certified Iyengar Instructor who has been practicing yoga in the Iyengar tradition for thirty-three years.

Prerequisite: At least one year of asana practice.
